Water for All

Back to our roots

Water for All’s very first project was carried out in the highlands of Peru. Now, forty years later, we are returning to Peru with Save the Children, the same organization we collaborated with at the very beginning.

Water for All believes that access to clean and safe water is a fundamental human right. This principle is rooted in the understanding that water is essential for life, health, and dignity. Without adequate access to water, communities face severe health risks, economic hardships, and social inequalities.

During 2025, we will implement an anniversary project in the northern part of Peru to help people gain access to clean water, hygiene, and sanitation.

Context and Needs

Peru, particularly the Piura region, has been severely affected by extreme weather events like El Niño, causing flooding, landslides, heatwaves, and disease outbreaks. Piura faces critical issues with access to safe drinking water and sanitation, with 97.9% of the population lacking safely managed water and 35.8% without adequate sewage systems. In Chulucanas, water access is limited, and sanitation infrastructure is poor, leading to significant health risks.

Project Overview

A 5-month intervention in Chulucanas aims to improve access to safe drinking water and sanitation. The project focuses on enhancing WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) infrastructure in schools and building community capacity for maintaining water access. Activities include educational campaigns, maintenance kits for water wells, construction of latrines, and installation of chlorine dosing pumps for water disinfection. Collaboration with local entities will ensure sustainable improvements in community health and well-being.
