The main purpose of this role is to provide applications engineering for the proposals and order execution functions within the Custom Engineered Systems Group at our Systems and Solutions site in Bolton, UK. Within these functions you will be responsible for:-
Proposals - Lead and support the vacuum pumping systems quotation and sales process by developing technically and commercially sound solutions that meet customers' specific requirements. This includes prioritizing requests, providing accurate cost estimates, creating customized quotes and working closely with various departments and customers to deliver innovative, efficient and profitable systems.
Orders - Responsibility for supporting all technical requirements and deliverables for contracts. The scope will be to provide direct support for contracts executed directly by the Process Vacuum business and to provide support to peripheral activities including but not limited to proposals, aftersales support, testing, engineering change, research and development, training and sales.
Main Responsibilities
Proposals
- Consulting sales and customer in consideration of customer's application
- Vacuum and Process calculation according to customer-specific process requirements
- Selection of suitable vacuum technology and product combination
- Cost estimation and price recommendations
- Using company processes to ensure the quality of proposals
Order execution
- Process design for process vacuum contracts.
- Issue of design information to contracts department to enable execution of orders
- Approval of technical drawings and documents relating to the execution of orders
- Responsible for Contract Safety Review Process
- Support aftersales activities relating to spares, replacements, site support work, training, customer meetings (external and internal) warranty claims and fault diagnosis.
Technical Support and Training
- Coordinating between Customer Centers (CCs) and Product Centers (PCs)
- Collaborating with departments such as Legal, Risk Management, Application Support, Business Development, Design, Project and Product Management
- Interacting with Key Account Managers, Sales Engineers, and customers
- Participating in technical clarification meetings and contract negotiations
Skills / Experience
- A diploma/degree qualification in Chemical, Process or Mechanical Engineering
- A knowledge of process design within the process sector is preferred. Knowledge of process vacuum technology and heat exchanger design would be advantageous but not mandatory.
- A knowledge of working with engineering contractors would be advantageous.
- Knowledge and working experience of international design standards and codes.
- Ability to travel and communicate effectively with internal and external customers on a professional level.
- A proven ability to manage complex engineering tasks – a strong understanding of delivering engineered solutions, to specification and on budget and on time
