Atlas Copco expands global distribution center in Belgium

March 13, 2015

Stockholm, Sweden, March 13, 2015: Atlas Copco, a leading provider of sustainable productivity solutions, today inaugurates an expanded, state-of-the-art distribution center in Belgium. The center enhances the speed and reliability of the distribution and availability of products and parts to customers worldwide, and prepares the Group for further growth.
The distribution center in Hoeselt, Belgium, is the main hub for distribution of products, spare parts and accessories for power tools, assembly systems, portable compressors, generators, road construction equipment and more.

As Atlas Copco continues to grow globally it is crucial we ensure that we can serve all our customers with the fastest and most reliable delivery possible,” said Ronnie Leten, Atlas Copco’s President and CEO. “Our expanded distribution center will be key in our constant effort to help customers increase productivity.”

The expanded center – the result of a MEUR 8 (MSEK 70) investment – is a safe and top-modern facility with high-tech solutions like voice picking, a process in which the operator is guided by an automated voice system for improved accuracy and productivity. It has transformed from a pick, pack, and ship facility to a total supply chain competence center that builds logistic networks based on customer needs.

The expansion includes 12 new loading docks, storage space and new ergonomic packing stations, bringing the size of the facility’s floor space to a total of 30 000 square meters. In total 20 extra vacancies were filled, bringing the total number of Atlas Copco employees in Hoeselt to 240.
